Islamic Education Consultancy provides information and support on the best practices regarding the running and management of Muslim schools. Our firm, led by Silma Ihram, aims to help Islamic educators across Australia be more effective in teaching Islam and other related topics at various levels of education.
Silma Ihram holds is recognised as a pioneer of Islamic Education in Australia, establishing the first Muslim community school in New South Wales in 1983 (Al Noori). Simultaneously, the first school in Victoria was established by the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils.
In 1995, with her husband Baheej Adada, she established a second school – Noor al Houda – also in Sydney.
She holds a master's degree in Islamic Studies and Educational Administration, as well as a master's honours in Society and Culture. Silma has worked as a school principal in Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia. She also runs a registered training organisation – Diversity Skills Training.
Converting to Islam in 1976, Silma appeared frequently in the media and was the subject of the documentary “Silma’s School” released in 2001.
